Julie has been a Nurse and Nurse Practitioner with the bulk of her career spent in labor and delivery and education. She went on to study spiritual psychology, energy medicine and developmental trauma at Barbara Brennan School of Healing Arts from 2012-2016. Since then has traveled to sacred sites of the world and studied with a variety of teachers and healers to deepen her own integration. She has spent the last 4 years focused on somatic practice, nervous system education as well as experiencing the work of pioneer Emily Conrad in Continuum Movement teacher training.
She now facilitates group healing journeys by combining education, experiential, somatic movement/practice and energy work to support integration and embodiment.
Yoga has been a part of my life for the last 15 years, and has been instrumental in helping me grow on and off the mat.
I completed both my 200 and 300 hour yoga teacher training with Gratitude Hot Yoga Center in 2019 and 2020.
I practice regularly and try to always be a student.
In my classes, I love to combine creative sequencing, a spirit of playfulness and a dose of inspiration to help you deepen your practice. I thrilled to be joining you on this retreat and look forward to flowing with you on the mat in Mexico!

As you fly over snow capped mountains, pristine forest, ocean, and alpine lakes-you finally breath.
This land is sacred, and it's healing properties palpable. As you disconnect from the hustle, the technology, the constant doing, you start to unwind. To remember. To feel, connect, and simply be with parts of yourself you have become distant with.
Together, we will journey to one of a kind hot springs, kayak to unique islands, jump into icy waterfalls, and hike through the Tongass National Forest. We will pull up shrimp pots for dinner and catch fish on a pole, not only reconnecting to source, but to yourself. We will hold ceremony around the fire, dance, laugh, and create together.
You will be held and supported through breathwork, somatic practice, ceremony and sound healing.
A one of a kind, life changing adventure and experience.

I loved how I connected more deeply to myself, to nature and the animals (whales, fish, sea otters, seals, bears, eagles, ravens), and to everyone in the group. It was a group of humans connecting deeply with our true nature in nature. My experience far exceeded my expectations. I learned a whole different way of looking at the nervous system. I now have a deeper, palpable understanding of how we process trauma; life events and what happens when we get stuck at any point in this processing. It was very powerful to get beyond self -consciousness and be open to the consciousness of the group. I felt safe and even loved in sharing about myself and where I have “gotten stuck” in processing of my life events. There was a lot of love, joy and humor while learning to more deeply acknowledge how my body feels and reacts to memories and external triggers, and also all of the beauty that life has to offer. I more deeply learned how to let all of these experiences flow through my nervous system- to feel them and acknowledge them. It is hard to put in words how moved I was at doing this work with a group of people that I had just met. There was sacred acceptance, love peace joy harmony and a lot of laughter. A lot of spiritual healing and human learning! There was definitely a deep soul connection in the group.
For 3 days after I returned home, every time I washed my hair and got out of the shower, I would suddenly get a whiff of campfire from our last fire and each time, it took me by surprise and it made me smile and gave me warm fuzzies. As a pediatric occupational therapist, we use many of the same concepts we talked about, but with different terminology, and I never thought to use it to apply to MYSELF as an adult. It has given me a more objective way to view energy vs feelings and being aware of some of those unconscious body processes and reactions (fight/flight/freeze) and just that awareness makes it seem manageable and seeing that it can change and reframe.
I loved all the adventures we went on, I loved the people we were with, including the family that owns the lodge. That family, including the dogs were the best hosts that I could of possibly imagined having. The lodge was full of love and laughter, great food, deep conversations and wonderful experiences. It was my first time to Alaska, and it was more than special for me because it is a magical land with lots of splendid sea life to see, including a swimming bear. The adventures that we had, the walks that we took, and the camaraderie of our group couldn't have been more fun and engaging. I was able to work on some deeper idiosyncrasies of my personality or maybe just past issues that I had not dealt with yet.
